Iģene Lutheran Church (16 km from Talsi in the direction of Vandzene) is one of the few Kurzeme wooden churches to survive to the present. The mid 18th century log building was constructed on the three-space principle, i.e. a chorale, congregation and sub-tower spaces. Most of the church’s objects – the altar with painted silhouette figures on the edges of the retable, the pulpit etc. – were made in 1752, utilizing the interior fragments of an older church (from 1699).
